The Arkansas Razorbacks volleyball team achieved a milestone victory Sunday, defeating reigning national champion Texas A&M in a 3-1 match at Barnhill Arena. This marked the Razorbacks' first win over a ranked opponent since the 2023 NCAA tournament.
Set scores were 25-20, 25-17, 20-25, and 25-22. With the win, the Razorbacks improved to 9-7 overall and 1-4 in Southeastern Conference play. A raucous home crowd of 3,261 fans—the sixth largest in program history—witnessed the upset, part of a weekend that drew nearly 6,000 spectators for two matches, a program record since the 2023 season.
Junior outside hitter Parker Duncan led Arkansas offensively with 17 kills, surpassing 500 career kills in the process. Laci Bohannan added 11 kills on a .360 hitting percentage and contributed six total blocks, setting a career high.
Freshman setter Maggie McCarroll, making only her second career start, posted a double-double with 34 assists and 12 digs. Defensively, the Razorbacks outblocked the Aggies 14-9, led by Aleki Alexander with eight blocks, including one solo. Gaby Cornier recorded a team-high 14 digs in the back row.
The Razorbacks controlled the first two sets with disciplined play, securing a 2-0 match lead. Texas A&M, ranked No. 12 nationally, fought back with a strong performance in the third set but could not maintain momentum as Arkansas rallied to win the fourth set and clinch the match.
Next, the Razorbacks face two additional ranked SEC opponents at home. No. 10 Tennessee visits Fayetteville on Friday, Oct. 16, for a 7 p.m. match, followed by a contest against No. 4 Kentucky on Sunday, Oct. 18, at 2 p.m. Both matches will stream live on SEC Network.
