A Marion County man has been arrested on two counts of rape and multiple drug charges, according to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.

Dylan Patrick Statum, 33, of rural Yellville, is being held in the Marion County Detention Center on a $75,000 bond. According to the probable cause affidavit, the charges stem from an event reported by the victim, who alleged that the assault occurred at Statum’s camper.

The victim told law enforcement that after arriving at the camper, she went to the restroom and, upon returning, encountered Statum smoking methamphetamine. When she attempted to leave, Statum reportedly restrained her, resulting in the first assault. She further alleged that he then dragged her into the bedroom, where the attack continued.

Following the report, deputies executed a search warrant at Statum's residence. Investigators reportedly discovered methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia used for ingestion.

Statum faces two counts of rape, a Class Y felony under Arkansas law. Class Y felonies are the most serious crimes in the state outside of capital offenses, carrying potential penalties of 10 to 40 years or life imprisonment. In addition to the felony rape charges, Statum is also accused of misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Court records show Statum has a history of criminal activity, with four prior felony arrests in Arkansas. These include two arrests in Baxter County and one each in Marion and Pulaski counties, dating back to 2017.

In 2017, Statum was convicted of stealing kayaks, altering their identification numbers, taking video surveillance equipment, and other crimes. He pled guilty to charges including three counts of commercial burglary, four counts of theft of property, two counts of criminal mischief, and four counts of altering or changing boating identification numbers. He was sentenced to five years in the Arkansas Department of Corrections and 10 years of probation.

In 2018, he faced additional charges in Marion County related to the theft of payment drop boxes from a storage facility, including breaking or entering, criminal mischief, and theft.

No court date has been announced for the current case.
