Early voting in Craighead County will begin Monday, Oct. 19, according to local election officials.

Registered voters can cast their ballots before Election Day at either the Election Annex located at 315 W. Jefferson in Jonesboro or the Lake City Eastern Annex at 113 Cobean in Lake City.

Craighead County Clerk Mary Dawn Marshall said those planning to vote should bring a state-issued photo ID. Acceptable forms of identification include a valid driver’s license, school identification card, or passport.

Early voting hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Early voting will close on Nov. 2, just ahead of Election Day.

The Craighead County Election Coordinator, Angela Horner, is currently testing the county’s 120 voting machines in preparation for the start of early voting. The county features a total of 129 unique ballot styles this election cycle.

For those unable to visit the polls in person, absentee voting is available. Clerk Marshall explained that voters must meet certain qualifications to vote absentee, such as being unavoidably absent from their polling site. Applications for absentee ballots can be requested through the county clerk’s office either by phone at 870-933-4520 or via email. Once submitted, the application will be processed by the clerk’s office.

On Election Day, polls will open at 7:30 a.m. Voters with questions about their polling locations or other election-related concerns are encouraged to contact the county clerk’s office directly.

The last day to register to vote for this election was Oct. 5.
