The Rotary Club of Mountain Home is celebrating 80 years of community service this month. Founded in 1946, the organization will host an anniversary event on October 22 at Big Creek Country Club, where current and former members will gather for an evening of festivities, including cake and ice cream.

As part of the milestone celebration, the Rotary Club has launched a charitable initiative in collaboration with the Food Bank of North Central Arkansas. Dubbed "Worth the Weight," the effort involves collecting monetary donations to support the food bank’s mission of addressing hunger in the region. Collected funds will be converted into their food-weight equivalents, culminating in a weigh-off that visually demonstrates the collective impact of community contributions.

Rotary Club President Rebecca Raynor emphasized how this initiative aligns with the club’s motto, “Service Above Self,” and encouraged the community to join in. Donations can be made through November 30 via mail to P.O. Box 1509, Mountain Home, or in person at the October 22 event.

Additionally, the Rotary Club has scheduled a hands-on volunteer day for November 14 at the Food Bank, where members will help pack food for distribution.

For eight decades, the Mountain Home Rotary Club has been committed to serving the area, adapting over time to meet the needs of the community. This latest initiative is a continuation of its longstanding tradition of fostering goodwill and addressing local challenges.
