Line crews from North Arkansas Electric Cooperative and Craighead Electric Cooperative have joined linemen from ten other Arkansas electric cooperatives in Alabama to assist Wiregrass Electric in Dothan with efforts to restore power following Hurricane Isaias.

According to officials, the storm, which has now transitioned into a post-tropical cyclone, caused widespread damage across multiple states, leaving communities and utility companies struggling to restore essential services.

Additionally, AECI Utility Solutions—a division of Arkansas Electric Cooperatives, Inc. (AECI), based in Little Rock—has sent lineworkers, right-of-way teams, and construction crews to respond to a request for assistance from Alabama Power and Light. Cooperative representatives have indicated that additional crews remain on standby to support other utilities impacted by the severe weather.

Hurricane Isaias brought strong winds and heavy rainfall to several Southeastern states before weakening into a post-tropical system. The storm has left thousands without power, overburdening local electric providers and prompting regional networks of electric cooperatives to step in with mutual aid agreements.

This collaborative effort underscores the role electric cooperatives play in disaster recovery, often sending personnel and resources across state lines to provide aid where it is most needed. Local linemen from Arkansas join this larger network of skilled workers dedicating their time to assist communities in Alabama as they begin the recovery process.
