The senior high volleyball district tournaments are set to begin this week, with local teams vying for championship titles and regional tournament berths.
The 3A-2 volleyball tournament kicks off Monday at Cave City. The first match will see sixth-seed Valley Springs face seventh-seed Cave City at 3:30 p.m. The winner will advance to play third-seed Melbourne at 6:30 p.m. later that evening. The victor of that game will compete in the semifinals on Tuesday at 6 p.m. against second-seed Flippin.
On the opposite side of the 3A-2 bracket, fourth-seed Salem will face fifth-seed Yellville-Summit at 5 p.m. Monday. The winner of this match will proceed to Tuesday’s semifinals to play top-seed Bergman at 4:30 p.m.
The 3A-2 tournament’s championship game is scheduled for Thursday at 6 p.m., following a consolation game at 4:30 p.m. for semifinal losers.
In the 2A-2 volleyball tournament, the action begins Tuesday at Cotter. Fourth-seed Viola will take on fifth-seed Alpena at 4 p.m. The winner will advance to play top-seed Cotter at 7 p.m. that evening. Meanwhile, second-seed Omaha will face third-seed Izard County at 5:30 p.m.
The 2A-2 semifinal winners will compete for the championship on Thursday at 5 p.m., preceded by a 4 p.m. consolation match that will determine third and fourth place for seeding purposes.
Both tournaments represent an important step for local teams seeking to secure their places in regional competitions.
