Craighead County residents have until Sunday, Oct. 15, to pay their personal property and real estate taxes before incurring a 10% penalty, according to County Tax Collector Wes Eddington.

Eddington cautioned against mailing payments so close to the deadline, as postage delays could result in late postmarks. "It’s really not safe to put it in the mail now," he said. "What the taxpayer needs to do is to carry the letter into the post office and have them manually stamp the date that you drop it off."

Tax payments can be deposited in one of two drop boxes at the Craighead County Courthouse in Jonesboro—one located outside the building and one indoors in the hallway. Residents who provide an email address with their payment will receive a digital receipt.

Alternatively, payments can be submitted online, though an additional processing fee applies.

The tax office advises residents to take proactive steps to ensure their payments are received on time.
