The Salem Greyhounds decisively defeated the Marshall Bobcats 57-0 in a Friday night football game in Salem. The strong start and relentless performance propelled the Greyhounds to an overwhelming win in front of their home crowd.

Salem wasted no time establishing dominance. On just the second offensive play of the game, Aiden Provence ran for a 27-yard touchdown, quickly putting the Greyhounds ahead 6-0. The drive began with a 53-yard run by Caleb Smith to set up the score.

The Greyhounds struck again on their next possession. Tripp Martin’s 47-yard run set the stage for quarterback Peyton Chambers, who connected with Connor Muir for a 9-yard touchdown pass. Jamer Holloway ran in the two-point conversion, extending the lead to 14-0 with 5:49 left in the first quarter.

Before the quarter ended, Salem continued their offensive onslaught. Chambers completed a 24-yard pass to Muir, followed by a 16-yard run from Kole Romine. Martin capped off the drive with a 25-yard touchdown run, pushing the score to 20-0. With less than a minute remaining in the first quarter, Romine intercepted a pass from Marshall. On the very next play, Chambers threw a 71-yard touchdown pass to Parker Swingle, and a successful two-point conversion pushed the score to 28-0.

The second quarter showed no slowdown from Salem. Chambers and Muir connected again for a 67-yard touchdown pass, followed by the same duo completing a two-point conversion to extend the lead to 36-0. Shortly after, Provence broke free for a 67-yard run, setting up an 8-yard touchdown by Martin. Another two-point conversion brought Salem to a 44-0 advantage by halftime.

The second half saw a continuous clock due to the lopsided score. Martin added a 34-yard touchdown run in the third quarter, making it 50-0. Late in the third, Romine intercepted his second pass of the night and returned it 34 yards for a touchdown. Provence’s extra-point kick sealed the score at 57-0.

Salem’s dominant performance included contributions from multiple players on both offense and defense, leaving Marshall scoreless. The Greyhounds now look to maintain their momentum as they continue their season.
