A Jonesboro man faces multiple criminal charges after police say he tried to force his way into his ex-girlfriend’s apartment while under the influence, leading to the discovery of drugs in his vehicle.
On Oct. 7, officers responded to a domestic disturbance in the 900 block of New Hope Lane, according to a probable cause affidavit. When officers arrived, they found 28-year-old Connor Wilson standing outside the apartment near his vehicle. Officers made contact with the woman inside, who identified herself as Wilson’s ex-girlfriend.
The woman told officers that she and Wilson had two children together but ended their relationship several months ago due to Wilson’s drug use. She said Wilson had asked to visit the children and bring them food, but she refused his request.
Officers reviewed video footage recorded inside the apartment. The video reportedly showed the woman and her two children standing in the kitchen near the back door as Wilson kicked it multiple times, damaging the door. Police said Wilson could be heard on the footage speaking through the broken door seal and sounded impaired.
When questioned, Wilson admitted to kicking the door, claiming he believed the children might be in danger. Officers observed that Wilson appeared to be under the influence and spotted a partially smoked marijuana blunt in plain view inside his vehicle.
A search of the vehicle yielded 0.26 grams of marijuana, 0.99 grams of methamphetamine, a straw with meth residue, and a rolled dollar bill also bearing meth residue. Wilson reportedly admitted to using marijuana recently.
Craighead County District Judge David Boling determined there was probable cause to charge Wilson with possession of methamphetamine or cocaine with purpose to deliver, possession of a Schedule VI controlled substance with purpose to deliver, endangering the welfare of a minor, criminal mischief, and public intoxication.
Wilson remains in custody at the Craighead County Detention Center on a $100,000 bond. His next court appearance is scheduled for Dec. 16.
