TURRELL, Ark. — A Missouri man was killed in a two-truck collision on Interstate 55 near Turrell on the afternoon of October 7, according to a preliminary report by the Arkansas State Police.

Franklin Alan McArthur, 66, of Hayti, Missouri, was driving a 2012 Kenworth northbound near mile marker 21 when his truck struck the rear of a 2022 Peterbilt's trailer, authorities said. The Peterbilt had come to a stop in the right lane due to traffic congestion. Following the collision, McArthur’s truck veered off the road and struck a guardrail.

The crash occurred at approximately 12:18 p.m. Weather conditions were clear, and the roadway was dry, according to the report. No other injuries were detailed in the preliminary findings.

Arkansas State Police officials noted that this report is based on initial investigations and findings could change as the case is reviewed further. The crash was investigated by Trooper First Class J. G. Byrd.
