The Arkansas Department of Health (ADH) has issued a boil order for two water systems in Jackson County following a water main break.
The advisory, announced Thursday, applies to all customers served by the North Jackson County Rural Water Association and Tuckerman Waterworks. According to the City of Tuckerman, the issue arose around 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday when a water line feeding the city’s water tower burst. Repair crews worked late into the evening to replace the damaged pipe with a new PVC line.
In accordance with ADH guidelines, residents in affected areas are advised to bring water to a rolling boil for at least one minute before using it for drinking, food preparation, or dishwashing. The agency issued the advisory as a precaution due to the potential risk of contamination from the water main break.
Further updates regarding the advisory will likely be provided by the Department of Health as test results determine when the water systems can return to normal operation.
