JONESBORO, Ark. — The walls of the Craighead County Jonesboro Public Library are adorned with detailed, farm-inspired quilts this October, courtesy of the Loose Threads Quilting Club.

The local group claimed the top spot in the library’s recent “On the Farm” challenge, which invited participants to showcase works themed around agricultural life. Now, the team’s vibrant quilts fill the space, complementing the library’s collections with images of chickens, pumpkins, and other rural scenes.

“Our quilts are a way for us to share our creativity and love of quilting,” said Ginger Alexander, a long-time club member with over 25 years of experience. “We hope to inspire others to join us through these displays.”

For Alexander, quilting is a deeply personal craft. Reflecting on how her hobby began, she recalled her first quilt. “A lot of us start when we have our first grandchild,” she said. “We want to make that baby quilt, and it just mushrooms from there.”

The Loose Threads Quilting Club comprises around two dozen members who gather monthly to share techniques, discuss projects, and encourage newcomers. Meetings are held on the third Monday of each month at 10 a.m. at the Southwest Church of Christ in Jonesboro.

Visitors can view the farm-themed quilts at the Jonesboro library throughout October.
