The Yellville-Summit Panthers are heading to Melbourne this Friday for a key 3A-2 conference matchup. This follows a narrow 22-20 homecoming victory last week against Riverview. Despite the win, head coach Chaseton McCarthy believes there’s room for improvement.
"We didn’t have our best outing against Riverview," McCarthy told KTLO, "but getting the win at homecoming was important, and now we need to refocus for the road ahead."
Yellville-Summit faces a tough challenge in Melbourne, who ground out a hard-fought 14-8 victory over Salem in their last game. McCarthy emphasized that staying focused will be critical.
"We have to be more consistent," McCarthy noted. "To succeed against Melbourne, we’ll need to tighten up our execution and avoid the mistakes we made last week."
The Panthers look to continue gaining traction as they navigate their conference schedule. Friday’s game in Melbourne is set to kick off at 7 p.m.
