Stephen McWhirter, a Christian recording artist and former K-LOVE Fan Awards nominee, will headline a lineup of attractions at Community Fest 2026, set to take place Saturday, Oct. 10, at the John 3:16 Ministry in Charlotte. Gates will open at 11:30 a.m., with free admission for all attendees.
The event will offer a wide range of activities, including a live auction simulcast online via HiBid starting at 1 p.m. Notable auction items include an MB Sports Tournament ski boat with a trailer. A silent auction will also feature a variety of additional items. For those interested in winning a Spartan zero-turn mower, raffle tickets will be available for purchase.
Family-friendly activities planned for the day include a rock-climbing wall, mechanical bull rides, bounce houses, a fishing pond, face painting, and food concessions. Worship singing will be led by McWhirter, whose breakout single, "Come, Jesus, Come," has been widely recognized and performed by other notable artists. His latest songs, "Come Out Lazarus!" and "This One Refrain," are currently available on streaming platforms.
McWhirter, who lives in Louisville, Kentucky, has shared his story of overcoming 11 years of drug addiction through faith, a journey he wrote about in his bestselling book, "Radically Restored: How Knowing Jesus Heals Our Brokenness." He is joined in his ministry efforts by his wife Tara, who co-wrote "Come, Jesus, Come," and their three sons.
Now in its 20th year, the John 3:16 Ministry provides spiritual support for men and women battling drug and alcohol addiction. The ministry is funded primarily through donations and events like Community Fest. "We look forward to having everyone come out and enjoy our fall festival while lifting up the name of Jesus Christ by bringing together community and family," said John 3:16 Director Bryan Tuggle.
The ministry, located at 75 Holmes Road just off Highway 25/White Drive, offers its services at no cost to residents, relying on fundraising and community support. For more information, visit john316thecure.com or call (870) 799-2525.
