The Mountain Home High School NJROTC precision air rifle team began its 2026 National Precision Air Rifle League season with a 2329.8 to 2163.6 defeat by Eldorado MCJROTC of Albuquerque, New Mexico, during a Week 1 virtual match.

Mountain Home competes in the league’s JROTC Distinguished Division, which pairs teams in random matchups each week. Teams complete a 60-shot standing air rifle course, scored to the decimal point, with the top four individual scores from each team contributing to the final tally.

Karhys Herbert led the Bombers with a team-best performance of 558.6 points. Additional contributions came from Aspen Douglas, Aaron Hale, and Aldyn Buterbaugh, who recorded a score of 526.2. Eldorado, competing in the JROTC Champions Division, was led by Jamie Spoonamore, whose 594.0 score was the highest of the match. Eldorado is coached by James Koerber.

Mountain Home will not compete in Week 2 due to a scheduled bye. Instead, the team will travel to Nashville, Tennessee, to take part in the Joe Sharbel Fall Classic Invitational held at Montgomery Bell Academy. This competition is one of the largest high school air rifle events in the nation and attracts junior marksmanship programs and JROTC units from across the country for direct matchups in a shoulder-to-shoulder format.

The Bombers are coached by Chief Jason M. Williams.
