The annual Heroes for Hope Walk/Run 5K is set to take place this Saturday, Oct. 10, at Cave City Park, combining fitness, family fun, and community support to benefit foster families and local initiatives. The event is hosted by The CALL in Sharp and Independence Counties in partnership with the local Sheriff Foundation.
Race day activities will begin with registration at 8 a.m., followed by the main 5K race at 9 a.m. Organizers have also planned a free kids’ fun run to follow shortly after. Participants are encouraged to wear superhero costumes, adding a festive atmosphere to the event. Medals will be awarded, and a “Touch-a-Truck” exhibit at the park will allow children to interact with emergency vehicles and first responders.
Event proceeds will directly support holiday expenses for foster youth and fund projects led by the Sheriff Foundation. Ashley Beller, representing The CALL, emphasized the critical need for additional foster homes in Sharp and Independence Counties. She noted that the current shortage forces many children statewide to be placed outside their home communities, creating additional challenges for already vulnerable youth.
For those interested in participating, registration can be completed online through RunSignUp or via The CALL in Sharp and Independence Counties Facebook page. More information about the event or foster care inquiries can be obtained by calling (870) 643-0757.
The CALL is a nonprofit organization dedicated to recruiting, training, and supporting foster and adoptive families in Arkansas. Its collaboration with the Sheriff Foundation further underscores a shared commitment to serving the needs of local communities.
