The Mountain Home High School boys golf team competed at the Class 5A State Golf Tournament in Pine Bluff on Wednesday, hosted by White Hall and Pine Bluff High Schools. The tournament featured 72 golfers from 20 schools across the state.
Senior Cody Cormican led the Bombers with an impressive round of 74. After finishing tied for second, Cormican lost a playoff to decide the runner-up position but still secured a spot in the overall state tournament, scheduled for October 22 in Little Rock.
Other strong performances came from Braxton Blagg, who shot an 83, Bailor Tate with an 84, Teagan Booy at 86, and Christian Chamberlin finishing with a 90. Only the top four scores contribute to the team total in competition, giving Mountain Home a combined score of 327. This result placed the Bombers in a tie for seventh out of 12 teams that completed the event.
Shiloh Christian earned the team title with a score that was 20 strokes ahead of Mountain Home. While the Bombers’ team season concludes with this tournament, Cormican will represent Mountain Home individually at the overall state tournament later this month.
