An Imboden woman has been charged with filing a false police report following an investigation into allegations she made against her estranged husband. Brittany Danielle Foster, of Imboden, was arrested on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, in Lawrence County and booked at the Lawrence County Detention Center. She is awaiting a bond hearing and court date.

According to a probable cause affidavit, Foster claimed in July 2026 that her estranged husband, Matthew Foster, physically and sexually assaulted her at his residence on Lawrence 511 in Clover Bend. She provided a written statement to investigators and was directed to Lawrence Memorial Hospital for a sexual assault examination. At the time, Matthew Foster denied the allegations in an interview with authorities, stating his estranged wife had not been at his residence and that the two had no sexual contact.

Matthew Foster told investigators that Brittany had been staying at another residence outside of Imboden since their separation. Their juvenile child, interviewed as part of the investigation, told investigators that Brittany had not been at the residence as she claimed. Additionally, the child reported that Brittany had rubbed her neck and eyes to create the appearance of injuries and crying.

During her initial 911 call, Brittany Foster told the dispatcher she was in Black Rock; however, investigators later determined she was actually in Portia at the time, according to the affidavit. Surveillance and Flock camera footage were reviewed, leading investigators to further question her account of events. When questioned again on August 4, Brittany altered her story, claiming she was driving a different vehicle on the day of the alleged incident. Investigators determined that the vehicle in question had been parked in a barn with a flat tire and was not in use.

Under further questioning about marks on her neck, Brittany admitted, according to the affidavit, that “he may not have done those scratches.” She then ended the interview, inquiring whether she needed an attorney. She was later arrested on a warrant issued as part of the investigation into the false report.

Brittany Foster has a history of recent legal troubles in Lawrence County. In August 2026, she was charged with fraudulent use of a debit or credit card and theft of property. In September 2026, she was arrested on harassment charges. Bond hearings for those charges remain pending.
