A minor earthquake was recorded early Wednesday morning in Marion County, the United States Geological Survey (USGS) reported.

The magnitude 1.7 seismic event occurred at 4:14 a.m., with its epicenter located approximately 4.6 miles west-southwest of Bull Shoals. This location is about 15 miles west of Mountain Home and 26.7 miles east-northeast of Harrison.

Quakes below a magnitude of 2.0 are generally too small to be felt by people. Local authorities have not reported any damage or injuries related to the incident.
