The University of Arkansas men’s golf team posted a commanding victory at the seventh annual Blessings Collegiate Invitational in Fayetteville, finishing with a total score of 6-under-par 858. The Razorbacks, who hosted the event at the Blessings Golf Club Oct. 3-5, earned a 22-stroke margin over second-place UNC Greensboro.
The win marks Arkansas’ fourth title at the event and its second team championship in three tournaments this season. UNC Greensboro moved into second place on the strength of a standout final round, shooting 7-under 281. The effort was led by medalist BJ Boyce, whose bogey-free 64 propelled him to the top of the leaderboard. Boyce's score was one shot short of the course and tournament record of 63 set by LSU’s Algot Kleen in 2024.
Arkansas showcased its depth, placing all five players from its official lineup in the top 10 and securing spots for four additional players among the top 15 as individuals. Highlighting the team’s performance were:
- **Niilo Maki-Petaja**, who finished second at 3-under 213 (67-75-71). Maki-Petaja, recording his 20th top-20 finish in 38 collegiate events, claimed his second runner-up title of the season. - **Thomas Curry**, who took third at 2-under 214 (69-73-72). Curry has placed in the top 10 in all three tournaments this season. - **Erich Fortlage**, finishing fifth with an even-par 216 (69-75-72), securing his eighth career top-5 finish. - **Lev Grinberg**, whose score of 1-over 217 (68-75-74) earned him sixth place.
Additional Razorbacks competing as individuals included:
- **Guus LaFeber** and **Cam Smith**, tying for seventh at 3-over 219. LaFeber secured Monday’s low round for Arkansas with a 69, while Smith followed closely with a 70. - **Gerardo Gomez**, tying for 10th with a 4-over 220 (69-78-73). - **Neo Berg** and **Willie Gordon**, finishing tied for 15th at 8-over 224.
The team’s effort secured a dominant lead in the nine-team field, which included North Texas, Southern Miss, and Little Rock, among others. Arkansas wraps up the fall portion of its season in less than two weeks at the Fallen Oak Collegiate Invitational, set to take place Oct. 17-19 in Saucier, Mississippi.
