The Walnut Ridge City Council has approved raising Mayor Charles Snapp’s spending limit while finalizing appointments and pay for several city positions starting in 2027.

During its recent meeting, the council passed an ordinance increasing the mayor’s purchasing authority from $35,000 to $42,921. This new limit aligns with the maximum spending allowed under Arkansas state law.

The council also selected Corey Baltz to serve as Walnut Ridge City Clerk/Treasurer, with his term beginning January 1, 2027, and ending September 30, 2030. Baltz, who has been training with current City Clerk Sharon Henson for several months, ran unopposed for the position. Henson is set to retire at the conclusion of her term.

In other decisions, Aldermen approved the reappointment of Adam Butler as City Attorney. Butler’s term will also begin on January 1, with an annual salary of $28,017.92, and extend for four years.

These updates reflect the city’s focus on continuity and adherence to state authorization for financial procedures.
