PARAGOULD, Ark. — A Paragould man has been charged with a felony after allegedly threatening to shoot someone during a phone call, authorities said.

Jokonidrik Anjain is accused of first-degree terroristic threatening, a Class D felony, according to an affidavit filed in Greene County District Court.

Paragould police were dispatched to an address on Ada Street on October 1 following a report of threats made by Anjain, the affidavit states. The individual who contacted police told officers that Anjain called them the previous night and threatened to shoot them. The person also provided text messages in which they confronted Anjain about the alleged threat.

In response, Anjain replied, “That was last night. I was upset,” according to the affidavit.

Anjain was interviewed by officers at the Paragould Police Department on October 2. During the interview, which was conducted after he was read his Miranda rights, Anjain reportedly admitted saying, “I’m going to shoot you,” per the affidavit signed by Paragould Police Detective Cpl. Tron Beesley.

Based on the information, a judge found probable cause to issue a warrant for Anjain’s arrest. He was taken into custody that evening at 7:02 p.m. and booked into the Greene County Detention Center.

During a court hearing, Judge Curtis Hitt set Anjain’s bond at $75,000, requiring either a surety or an alternative form acceptable to the Greene County sheriff. If released, Anjain must comply with conditions imposed by the court, including avoiding contact with the alleged victim or witnesses, refraining from possessing firearms, and adhering to ankle-monitoring requirements.

The charge against Anjain remains an allegation. He is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
