MARION, Ark. — A pedestrian was struck and killed on Interstate 40 last month, according to a preliminary report by the Arkansas State Police.

Ross Caronna Jr., a resident of Independence, Louisiana, was walking south in the traffic lane at the 279-mile marker when he was hit by a westbound 2023 Chevrolet Traverse. The collision occurred on Aug. 22, 2026. No details were provided on why Caronna was in the roadway.

State police listed the weather as clear and the road conditions as dry at the time of the incident. Trooper Dylan Evans is noted as the investigating officer in the preliminary report.
