PARAGOULD, Ark. — A Paragould man is facing charges of first-degree terroristic threatening after allegedly threatening to shoot another individual, court records show.
Greene County District Court Judge Curtis Hitt determined on Friday there was probable cause to arrest Jokonidrik Anjain, according to a court affidavit.
Police responded on Oct. 1 to the 700 block of Ada Street after receiving a report of the alleged threat. The victim told officers that Anjain had called them the night before and threatened to shoot them, the affidavit stated.
“The victim provided a text message where they confronted the defendant about shooting them,” Paragould Police Corporal Tron Beesley said in court documents. “The defendant replied, ‘That was last night. I was upset.’”
During a subsequent interview at the police station, Anjain admitted to making the statement, “I’m going to shoot you,” Cpl. Beesley reported. The interview was conducted after Anjain received a Miranda warning.
Anjain is currently being held at the Greene County Detention Center on a $75,000 cash or surety bond. If he posts bond, he will be required to wear a GPS ankle monitor and refrain from contacting the victim, the court ordered.
First-degree terroristic threatening is classified as a Class D felony under Arkansas law, punishable by up to six years in prison and fines of up to $10,000 upon conviction.
Further proceedings in the case are pending.
