The Arkansas State Red Wolves volleyball team came up short in a competitive five-set match against Louisiana on Friday night at Earl K. Long Gym in Lafayette, Louisiana. After leading early, Arkansas State fell 3-2 (25-18, 21-25, 25-22, 23-25, 12-15) in the Sun Belt Conference matchup.

Arkansas State now holds a 7-8 overall record with a 3-1 mark in league play, while Louisiana improved to 7-10 on the season and 2-2 in the conference.

Kaitlin Whitlock and Parker Stearns led the Red Wolves offense, each recording 17 kills—setting a career high for Stearns. Whitlock also contributed 12 digs to secure her fourth consecutive double-double performance.

Mia Maloney provided a strong defensive presence with 20 digs, marking her fourth match this season with 20 or more digs. Erin Madigan paced the team with 31 assists, while Stearns and Haley Glunz topped the team with five total blocks apiece.

The Red Wolves tallied 65 kills on a .230 hitting percentage, finishing the match with 62 digs and recording 11 total blocks as a team. Despite their statistical efforts, Arkansas State could not secure a victory after taking the first and third sets.

Looking ahead, Arkansas State returns home to Jonesboro for back-to-back matches against South Alabama on Monday, Oct. 9, and Tuesday, Oct. 10.
