A Tier 3 registered sex offender from Missouri has been arrested in Baxter County, Arkansas, following a tip from Missouri law enforcement. Brandon Lee Oxford, 50, is now facing multiple charges.
According to a probable cause affidavit from the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office, the Barry County Sheriff’s Office in Missouri notified Arkansas authorities that Oxford had moved in with his girlfriend in the Mountain Home area. During a compliance check at the address Oxford had registered, his brother informed deputies that Oxford had relocated to Mountain Home two months prior. Baxter County deputies then discovered Oxford living in a tent on a Mountain Home property.
Deputies reported finding multiple firearms in Oxford’s tent and a marijuana pipe in one of his pockets. As a convicted felon, Oxford is prohibited from possessing firearms. He now faces one felony count of failure to comply with registration and reporting requirements and five counts of possession of firearms by certain persons. Additionally, he is charged with two misdemeanors: having an incorrect permanent address listed on an ID card and possession of drug paraphernalia. A habitual offender penalty enhancement may also apply.
Oxford, who posted a $25,000 bond to secure his release, is classified as a Tier 3 sex offender, the highest level of supervision required under Missouri law. He was convicted in 1998 on two counts of first-degree child molestation involving a seven-year-old girl when he was 22 years old.
Court documents reveal that Oxford’s legal troubles extend beyond this case. He has been arrested in Missouri on charges including failure to register as a sex offender, possession of marijuana, first-degree tampering with a motor vehicle, and operating a vehicle with a revoked or suspended license. He has faced penalties ranging from probation to incarceration in the Missouri Department of Corrections.
Oxford’s case highlights continued law enforcement efforts to monitor compliance with sex offender registration laws and address violations across state lines.
