Law enforcement agencies across Arkansas will host medication collection events in every county on Saturday, October 24, as part of the state's participation in National Drug Take Back Day.
Residents will have the chance to safely and anonymously dispose of expired, unused, or unwanted prescription medications at designated drop-off sites in their communities. Officials emphasize that this program plays a critical role in reducing the risk of prescription drug misuse, accidental poisonings, and water contamination caused by improper disposal.
During the spring iteration of the program, Arkansans turned in more than 50,000 pounds of unused prescription drugs, according to organizers.
The Drug Take Back Day initiative is coordinated with the assistance of local police departments, sheriffs’ offices, and other community partners. Specific drop-off locations and operating hours for the event can be found on the Arkansas Drug Take Back event website or by contacting your local law enforcement agency.
