A Jonesboro man faces charges after allegedly assaulting another man with a beer bottle, leaving the victim with significant injuries.

Craighead County District Court Judge David Boling found probable cause on Wednesday to charge 37-year-old Guy Moreno with second-degree battery, a Class D felony, and fleeing, a misdemeanor.

According to court documents, police were dispatched on Sept. 27 to the 2500 block of Viking Street following reports of a domestic disturbance in progress. Upon arriving at the scene, officers discovered a victim lying on the pavement and bleeding heavily from a head injury.

Witnesses at the scene told police the suspect, identified as Moreno, had fled before officers arrived. A short foot chase followed, and officers arrested Moreno, according to the probable cause affidavit.

Witness statements allege that Moreno attacked the victim without provocation. The affidavit states that he struck the victim twice with a beer bottle, with the second blow shattering the bottle and knocking the victim to the ground. Moreno then reportedly continued the assault by punching the victim, stomping on his head and abdomen, and repeatedly striking his face.

The victim was found to have sustained multiple injuries, including fractures to his nasal structure and eye socket, according to the affidavit.

Moreno is currently being held on a $250,000 cash or surety bond. His next court appearance is scheduled for Oct. 26.
