INDEPENDENCE COUNTY — Traffic on State Highway 25 near Moorefield is at a standstill following a crash involving a commercial vehicle early Friday morning.
The Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) reported the incident at 6:35 a.m. on Oct. 2, near the intersection with State Highway 233, just north of Moorefield. The crash prompted the Independence County Sheriff’s Office to close the road for what officials anticipate will be an extended period.
As of 8:30 a.m., the sheriff’s office confirmed that the highway remained blocked and advised drivers to avoid the area. Motorists traveling toward Batesville are urged to detour using State Highway 233 and State Highway 69 as alternative routes.
No timeline for reopening the road has been provided. Officials have not released additional details about the crash or whether any injuries were reported.
Traffic updates can be monitored through ARDOT and local law enforcement advisories.
