Logan Ashler Rentz was convicted of manslaughter on Thursday in connection to the death of Shannon Fisher, a Walnut Ridge resident. Rentz was sentenced to five years in prison, with credit for ten months already served.
The case stems from an incident on the evening of January 16. Officers from the Walnut Ridge Police Department responded to a call regarding an unresponsive man found in the parking lot behind Main Street Pizza in downtown Walnut Ridge. The individual, later identified as Fisher, was transported to Lawrence Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Rentz was apprehended shortly after the incident.
Details surrounding the circumstances that led to Fisher's death were not immediately available, but the court determined Rentz’s actions warranted a reduced charge of manslaughter rather than murder. The sentencing concludes a high-profile case that drew attention in the Walnut Ridge community.
