Logan Ashler Rentz has been sentenced to five years in prison after being convicted of manslaughter in the death of Shannon Fisher. The sentencing followed a jury trial related to an incident that occurred in Walnut Ridge earlier this year. Rentz was credited with 10 months of time already served.

The case stems from a January 16, 2026, altercation that took place at approximately 10:47 p.m. in the parking lot behind Main Street Pizza in Walnut Ridge. According to an initial statement from the Walnut Ridge Police Department, officers were dispatched to the scene after reports of an unresponsive male following a physical confrontation.

When first responders arrived, Sergeant Aaron Moore discovered the unresponsive man and immediately began performing CPR with assistance from a bystander. The victim, later identified as Shannon Fisher, was transported to Lawrence Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Authorities confirmed that a suspect was taken into custody at the time of the incident. However, no names were initially released as the investigation unfolded.

The Walnut Ridge Police Department, along with the Walnut Ridge Fire Department and Medic 1, responded to the scene and conducted the investigation. Police officials stated they were committed to preserving the integrity of the case while respecting the families involved.

Rentz was tried and found guilty of manslaughter by a Lawrence County jury. Following the verdict, the sentencing phase concluded with the five-year prison term, which includes credit for time Rentz has already spent in custody.

Efforts to contact representatives of the victim’s family for comment were not immediately successful.
