The Mountain View Yellowjackets are preparing to travel to Marshall on Friday evening for a 3A-2 conference showdown against the winless Bobcats. Both teams are looking for their first conference victory of the season.
Mountain View (1-3, 0-1) suffered a challenging 46-0 loss at home last week against the Newport Greyhounds. According to head coach Curtis Sims, one of the team's primary focuses is preventing big plays, which proved costly in the game against Newport.
Marshall (0-4, 0-1) has also struggled this season but showed some offensive promise last week, scoring 22 points in a narrow 30-22 loss to Riverview.
As Mountain View prepares for Friday's matchup, Sims emphasized the importance of running the ball effectively, despite a forecast that includes a chance of rain. Strong execution on the ground could play a key role in securing a road victory for the Yellowjackets.
Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. in Marshall.
