The Salem Greyhounds (1-3, 1-0) are heading to Melbourne this Friday for a key 3A-2 conference matchup against the Bearkats (2-2, 1-0). Both teams will be looking to stay unbeaten in league play following strong performances last week.
Salem enters the game fresh off a 46-20 conference-opening win over Yellville-Summit at home. Salem head coach Billy Webber noted that his team succeeded by establishing a powerful running game and incorporating timely passing to secure the victory. The Greyhounds’ balanced approach was a critical factor in starting their league season on a positive note.
Melbourne responded to its own conference opener with grit, outlasting Quitman 54-43 in a high-scoring contest on the road. The Bearkats demonstrated offensive firepower and resilience, setting the stage for what promises to be a competitive battle with Salem.
Webber says the keys to securing a road victory in Melbourne remain consistent. He emphasizes the importance of executing game fundamentals and building on the momentum his team developed last week.
Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday at Melbourne. Both teams will try to gain an advantage in a highly competitive 3A-2 conference race.
