September brought hot and dry weather to the Highland area, according to data from Hometown Radio’s Highland weather station. The station recorded a total of 2.52 inches of rain for the month, with measurable rainfall occurring on just two days out of 30.
The highest temperature was reported on September 9, when the thermometer climbed to 102 degrees. Temperatures reached the triple digits on nine separate days throughout the month. In addition, there were 19 days in September when the high reached 90 degrees or above.
The lowest temperature recorded during September occurred just last week, with the morning low dipping to 55 degrees on Tuesday, October 3.
Looking ahead, rain is expected to move into the area later tonight. Forecasters anticipate the best chance for significant rainfall to occur Friday morning, with showers continuing through the afternoon and into Friday night. Residents planning to attend high school football games Friday evening are advised to bring rain gear. Light rain is predicted to persist into Saturday and Saturday night.
The weather is expected to take a seasonal turn by Sunday, with forecasts predicting sunshine and cooler highs in the 70s.
