Sany Nutrition Group officially opened its new facility Wednesday with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the former Butterball turkey plant on East Highland Drive in Jonesboro. The plant, which began operations on August 18, marks a significant investment in the area by the family-owned protein bar manufacturer.
The company, known for its flagship Crunch Bar, announced last month a $30 million plan for the location, which includes creating more than 150 jobs over the next three years. Owner Angela Pernsteiner noted that the decision to choose Jonesboro followed an extensive evaluation of other sites, including locations in Alabama, Mississippi, Texas, and Oklahoma.
“Jonesboro has a very specific cluster of food producers, so we find [it] always very important that the supply chain is in place and that there is the trained workforce, and we find that to be in place in Jonesboro,” said Pernsteiner.
The facility is part of Sany Nutrition Group’s broader strategy to expand its reach. Pernsteiner emphasized that while their products are known for being high in protein and low in sugar, the company’s focus remains on taste and satisfaction. “Our first aim is always to go for indulgence, satisfaction, and taste, and then comes the benefit like low sugar and high protein,” she said.
In conjunction with the facility’s opening, Sany Nutrition Group introduced its new snack product line, “Beyond Resilience,” which is now available nationally in Walmart stores and online. The flagship product of this line, the Beyond Resilience Protein Crunch Bar, contains 15 grams of protein per serving. According to Pernsteiner, the company launched the snack in more than 530 Walmart locations on Wednesday.
Additional offerings from the company are expected soon, including “Crunch Pops,” which will roll out starting next month.
Sany Nutrition Group’s investment in Jonesboro reinforces the city’s growing reputation as a hub for food production and manufacturing, a cluster Pernsteiner highlighted as pivotal in the company’s decision.
The facility’s development represents another boost to the local economy, benefiting from the expansion of nationally distributed products while creating job opportunities for area residents.
