A Jonesboro woman whose 3-month-old baby tested positive for methamphetamine and cocaine has been sentenced to 10 years in state prison.
Michelle Moore, 38, pleaded guilty on Monday to charges of introducing a Schedule I/II controlled substance into another’s body and first-degree child endangerment. Second Judicial Circuit Court Judge Chris Thyer sentenced her to 120 months in the Arkansas Department of Corrections, with an additional 180 months suspended imposition of sentence. She also received credit for 283 days already served in jail and has been ordered to pay all court-related costs, fees, and fines.
Judge Thyer additionally ordered Moore to complete a GED program, attend parenting classes, and refrain from any contact with the child involved in the case.
Court documents reveal that the investigation began after social workers visited Moore’s home on October 31, 2025. During the visit, they observed white, crystal-like particles on a living room table, car seat, and a baby tub—substances they believed to be methamphetamine. According to the affidavit, Moore told the social workers she did not have a bed or a primary care physician for the baby.
Detective Madison Dobbs stated that social workers expressed concerns about the baby’s safety and requested a drug screening for Moore. She tested positive for methamphetamine and amphetamine. A 72-hour hold was subsequently placed on both Moore and the infant. Police were called to the scene when Moore refused to hand over the baby.
The infant was taken to a children’s clinic, where a hair follicle test revealed high levels of amphetamine, methamphetamine, benzoylecgonine, and cocaine. Officers later arrested Moore under a bench warrant on December 15, 2025, and she has been held at the Craighead County Detention Center since then.
As part of her sentencing, Moore will serve her 10-year prison term followed by a period of suspended oversight, during which she must adhere to all court-ordered requirements.
