Lawrence County deputies responded early Wednesday to reports of a nude man on the Black River Bridge. At approximately 3:42 a.m., the Lawrence County 911 center received a call regarding a man sitting unclothed near the south end of the bridge, according to officials.
Sheriff's deputies in the area were dispatched to the scene.
Initially, a medical unit was requested to assist, but it was later canceled. Officers instead transported the man to Lawrence Memorial Hospital for evaluation and screening. Authorities stated that the individual appeared to be experiencing an episode of mental distress.
No injuries were reported in connection with the incident. The name of the man has not been released.
