Mountain Home's tennis teams delivered impressive performances at the 5A-West Conference Tournament, which concluded Tuesday in Siloam Springs. Several players and doubles teams secured spots at the upcoming 5A State Tournament.
In girls' singles, Oakley Recktenwald and Chandler Jones, both representing Mountain Home, advanced through semifinal victories to face each other in a competitive championship match. Recktenwald claimed the title with set scores of 6-1, 6-7, and 6-4. In the third-place match, Mary Charles McConnell edged Addison Decker, another Lady Bomber, in a close 8-6 contest.
On the doubles side, Mountain Home dominated as the pairs of Kiana Talbot and Devon Sussman, along with Nicola Talbot and Berkeley Decker, reached the finals after semifinal wins. Talbot and Sussman emerged victorious in the championship match, winning 6-2, 7-5.
The Bombers also saw success in boys' doubles, with Max Goodwin and Nathan Mooney advancing to the semifinal round. Though defeated in that match, the pair secured third place with a narrow 9-7 victory over Greenwood.
The Lady Bombers clinched the overall 5A-West girls' team title, while the Bombers finished as runners-up in the boys' division. All Mountain Home athletes who competed on the second day of the tournament have qualified for the 5A State Tournament, set for October 12-13 at Hot Springs Lakeside.
