Bryan Dudones, a standout center for the Mountain Home Bombers basketball team in the late 1980s, will be inducted into the Mountain Home Athletic Hall of Honor on Saturday, October 3. The ceremony will begin at noon, with the program set to start at 1 p.m. in the Mountain Home High School cafeteria.
Dudones, a 1989 Mountain Home High School graduate, played three seasons for the Bombers, leaving a lasting impression on the court. Recalling his early years in Mountain Home, Dudones said basketball was a central part of his life, noting that if he had the chance, “he always had a basketball in his hands.”
His high school success earned him an athletic scholarship to Central Baptist College in Conway, where he played for two seasons. He later transferred to Henderson State University and became part of the Reddies basketball program for one semester. However, Dudones eventually decided to shift his focus to his education and pursue a different path.
After completing his education, Dudones moved to Florida, where he embarked on a career in the financial technology industry. He also explored a passion for umpiring baseball, attending a professional umpiring school to pursue opportunities in minor league baseball. He instead began officiating semi-professional baseball in South Florida before settling down to focus on raising his family and spending time with his children.
Reflecting on the upcoming honor, Dudones expressed surprise and excitement at being selected for the Athletic Hall of Honor. He is looking forward to returning to Mountain Home, visiting familiar places, and possibly shooting a few baskets in the gym where he once competed as a Bomber.
