A 42-year-old Jonesboro man has been charged with homicide in connection with a fatal overdose at a city motel.
On Monday, Craighead County District Court Judge Tommy Fowler determined there was probable cause to charge Frank Flanagan with first-degree homicide by delivery, a Class Y felony, according to court records.
The investigation began after officers responded to a reported overdose at the Comfort Inn on Phillips Drive. Police found drug-related evidence in plain view inside the room. The victim, whose name has not been released, was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
A witness at the scene reportedly informed investigators that Flanagan had supplied the drugs. According to an affidavit by Detective Dustin McKenzie, Flanagan admitted in a post-Miranda interview that he received $250 from the victim to purchase drugs. Flanagan stated he bought what he believed to be methamphetamine before giving it to the victim.
Further evidence outlined in the court documents suggests that the victim and another individual used the drugs, identified as methamphetamine and fentanyl, that evening, McKenzie wrote.
Flanagan is being held on a $250,000 cash or surety bond at the Craighead County Detention Center. His arraignment is scheduled for Nov. 23.
