JONESBORO, Ark. — The Jonesboro Finance and Administration Council Committee reviewed multiple resolutions Tuesday evening, approving plans to enhance law enforcement technology, emergency dispatch infrastructure, and recreational facilities.
A key proposal involves applying for a fiscal year 2026 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant. If awarded, the $44,681 grant would fund new equipment for the Jonesboro Police Department, including a forensic computer, electronic ticketing scanners, Real-Time Crime Center computer equipment, high-resolution monitors, and an unmanned aerial system equipped with thermal imaging.
The committee also approved a $2.2 million agreement with Motorola Solutions to acquire radio equipment essential for the city’s new E-911 Center. This investment would provide improved radio consoles, a radio tower, and supporting communication equipment.
Additionally, the council moved forward on a proposal allocating $1.4 million for new playground equipment at Disciple Park, aimed at enhancing recreational opportunities for local families.
These resolutions will next be considered by the Jonesboro City Council at its upcoming meeting.
