BATESVILLE – Juli Howard has returned to the Batesville Area Arts Council (BAAC) as the gallery manager, the organization announced. Howard previously served as the gallery assistant from 2023 to 2024 and rejoins the council just as it enters its busiest season, including workshops and the 10th annual Artoberfest on Oct. 17.
In her new role, Howard will oversee daily operations of the gallery while supporting exhibitions, local artists, programming, events, marketing initiatives, and community outreach. Her responsibilities include artwork handling and inventory, artist communication and recruitment, and visitor services, as well as providing administrative support.
Howard, a Batesville-based artist and graduate of Lyon College, brings a background in graphic design, marketing, and photography to the position. She also operates Oak and Dagger Studios, a ceramics and illustration studio. Earlier this year, she completed the Leadership Batesville program, a development initiative for local leaders.
“I’m so excited to be back at BAAC and working with Carly again,” Howard said in a statement, referring to Executive Director Carly Dahl. “I’m looking forward to learning more about nonprofit leadership and management while taking on this expanded role. The arts council plays such an important role in amplifying the arts in our community. As an artist, seeing its growth and expansion is incredibly exciting.”
Dahl expressed enthusiasm for Howard’s return, noting her creative skills, local ties, and fresh perspective. “We’re thrilled to welcome Juli back to BAAC in this new role,” Dahl remarked. “Her creativity, experience, and connection to the local arts community make her a wonderful addition to our team.” Dahl added that she anticipates Howard’s talents will enhance the council’s programs and strengthen its community relationships.
