JONESBORO, Ark. — A Jonesboro woman has been accused of felony theft after allegedly bagging clothes at a Walmart self-checkout without paying, and later resisting arrest in the store’s parking lot. Tanya Reynolds was arrested following the incident, which took place on September 27 at Walmart on Highland Drive, according to a probable cause affidavit filed in Craighead County. The store’s asset protection employee reported that Reynolds placed clothing items in bags at the self-checkout station without scanning or paying for them. According to the affidavit, she left the store after passing its front doors without paying, prompting the employee to notify authorities. A Jonesboro police officer approached Reynolds in the parking lot and informed her she was under arrest for theft. Initially, Reynolds complied by placing her hands behind her back, but then turned and allegedly refused to follow further instructions, the affidavit states. A criminal history check revealed that Reynolds has two prior theft convictions: one in April 2023 and another in February 2025. Due to these prior offenses, the allegation in this case was listed as theft of property valued at $1,000 or less, second offense, a Class D felony. Additionally, she faces a Class B misdemeanor charge for refusing to submit to arrest. Judge Thomas Fowler found probable cause to move forward with the case during a hearing on September 28. He set Reynolds’s bond at $10,000 cash or surety and appointed a public defender to represent her. Reynolds’s next court appearance is scheduled for November 23 at 8:30 a.m. in Craighead County Circuit Court. All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
