Strawberry resident Josh Walker has formally announced his candidacy for mayor ahead of the November election. A lifelong advocate of the town, Walker says he is eager to serve the community where he was born and raised.

Walker, a 1996 graduate of Strawberry High School, earned an associate degree in applied science for physical therapy before returning to Strawberry with his family in 2014. He is currently employed at GTS outpatient physical therapy in Cave City. He and his wife Amanda have three children: Braxtyn, 14, Mason, 7, and Tuck, 5.

Speaking about his connection to the town, Walker stated, "I wouldn’t want to live anywhere else in the world. This community is amazing, and our people always show up for one another when in need."

Walker’s campaign focuses on addressing infrastructure concerns, including water quality issues and rising costs, as well as promoting growth and business development in Strawberry. "My goal is to keep this town in pristine condition, address the issues with our town’s water quality, and address the rising cost," he said. "We also need growth in our town, not decline. I will seek to bring business growth to our town as soon as possible."

Walker stressed the importance of fostering community engagement and ensuring transparency in local government. He expressed concern that many residents are unaware of current leadership or when town council meetings are held. "Those meetings are their opportunity to express any needs or wants, and I feel it is very important that everyone knows when those meetings are because they are always welcome and they will always have a voice," he explained.

If elected, Walker said he plans to collaborate with city council members and city employees while encouraging residents to take an active role in the town’s future. "I want to utilize the talents of the people in our community," he said. "We have so many talented folks in this town that can assist in so many ways."

Walker expressed optimism about the path ahead, calling Strawberry a "great place to live" with significant potential for growth. "I am truly focused on our future, and I cannot wait for the opportunity to serve as mayor if my community will give me that opportunity," he said.

Election Day is scheduled for November 3.
