Prime Video has announced an early renewal of the popular series *Reacher* for a sixth season. The decision highlights the ongoing success of the show, which stars Alan Ritchson as the titular character. The series is based on the bestselling book series by author Lee Child.
Peter Friedlander, head of Global Television at Amazon MGM Studios, expressed enthusiasm for the renewal in a statement. “Reacher hits hard. What Lee Child has built and Nick Santora and his creative teams have brought to life is, simply, incredible. Alan Ritchson is Jack Reacher — he’s delivered a performance that has captivated audiences around the world,” Friedlander said. He added that Amazon is looking forward to continuing their partnership with Paramount Television Studios on the series.
The renewal follows a successful fourth season, which premiered on August 12 and reportedly garnered significant global viewership. According to Prime Video, the season accumulated 66 million viewers within its first 28 days, surpassing the performance of season three. The fourth season was adapted from Child’s 13th book in the series, *Gone Tomorrow*, and followed Reacher as he became entangled in a deadly conspiracy after a chance encounter on a subway.
Production on season five is currently underway in Toronto, Canada. This upcoming season is based on the 20th book in Child’s series, *Make Me*. Season five had already been greenlit prior to the release of season four, which reflects the platform’s confidence in the show’s popularity. Since its debut in 2022, *Reacher* has drawn over 200 million viewers globally, according to Prime Video.
Alan Ritchson has received widespread praise for his portrayal of Jack Reacher, and the series has become a standout title in Prime Video’s lineup.
