Jonesboro, Ark.—New bus routes and stops are now available to GOJO transit riders as part of a city-wide expansion that took effect this week.
According to GOJO Director Lee Wells, the changes aim to provide more convenient access and enhance safety for passengers. Some of the new stops include the growing Greensboro Village and Hilltop areas, where Wells said demand has increased.
"This here in Greensboro Village is a growing area, also in the Hilltop area," Wells stated. "It’s just going to allow for some better accommodations for the public that utilizes public transit."
Safety was also a significant focus of the new routes. Wells detailed efforts to make pedestrian access safer, citing one of the new stops as an example.
"By adding that location there on Highland on the other side of Main and Southwest Drive, we’ve not only tried to improve the service, but also made it safer for the pedestrians to get to the locations that they want to go to," Wells explained.
In addition to added stops, Wells noted that route adjustments have been made, specifically in the Hilltop area. He advised riders to review updated stop times as drivers adapt to the changes.
