The Arkansas Department of Health (ADH) has confirmed a boil water notice issued Monday by the Brunner Hill Public Water Authority. The precautionary measure was prompted by a loss of normal system pressure caused by a main break, raising concerns that contaminated water may have entered the system.
The advisory affects customers in the area of Olive West Crossroads and Highway 223, including side roads. Under the notice, affected residents are urged to boil all water used for drinking or food preparation for at least one minute at a rolling boil before consumption. Residents are also advised to discard any ice cubes that may have been made with untreated water and to use only boiled water when preparing new ice.
The ADH will lift the advisory once a set of bacteriological tests confirms the water is free of contamination and an appropriate disinfectant level has been restored throughout the distribution system.
