A new recovery center in Osceola plans to provide support for individuals grappling with addiction, but its efforts remain stalled as it searches for a suitable location to operate.
The Together in Recovery Family Recovery Center, founded by Brittany Bunch, is developing a program to allow single parents to undergo treatment while keeping their children with them. According to Bunch, the nonprofit has already started a waiting list of those seeking help, though the program can’t begin until a facility meeting city zoning rules and safety standards is secured.
“The goal is for single mothers or single fathers that still have custody of their children to be able to bring them with them to the recovery facility in a safe environment,” Bunch said.
With a five-member board and growing community interest, the center’s team has received numerous inquiries about when operations will begin. But Bunch emphasized that opening a recovery center is a complex process requiring proper approvals.
“You can’t just find, say, a plaza and start putting rooms in it and a bathroom and say we’re good to go,” Bunch explained. “They have to be approved by the city, they have to be approved by the fire marshals.”
The group is focused on finding a space within Osceola or its surrounding areas that offers sufficient room for both therapeutic services and family life. Without such a facility, Bunch said the center cannot move forward in assisting families currently on the waiting list.
For now, the Together in Recovery team continues its search while families in the area await the opportunity to access this resource.
This potential launch of the center comes as addiction recovery services remain a pressing need in Arkansas, especially facilities designed to accommodate parents with children while they seek treatment.
