The American Red Cross is calling on people of all blood types to donate blood as the need for supplies remains constant. The organization provides more than 6.5 million blood products annually to hospitals across the United States, and officials stress that maintaining a robust supply is crucial for disaster preparedness and patient care.
September, recognized as National Preparedness Month, underscores the importance of readiness for unexpected disasters. A steady blood supply is essential for emergencies ranging from home fires to natural disasters.
Donors who schedule and complete a blood donation appointment through October 18 will receive a $15 e-gift card to a merchant of their choice. Additionally, anyone donating between September 21 and September 30 at a Red Cross blood donation center and referencing the word “pickleball” will receive a custom Red Cross pickleball paddle and ball, while supplies last.
