A 32-year-old Yellville man is being held in the Marion County Detention Center after allegedly beating a minor with a metal pipe in July.
Richard Daniel Lackie was arrested following the July 12 incident, according to a probable cause affidavit released this week. Authorities allege that Lackie attacked the underage boy by punching him, striking him in the side with a 16-inch metal pipe, choking him, and biting his hand.
The confrontation ended when another male resident on the property intervened, law enforcement records indicate. The boy’s mother was notified, and an ambulance was called to transport him to the hospital.
Marion County authorities have charged Lackie with felony second-degree battery in connection with the case. His bond is set at $5,000.
Court records show a history of criminal activity for Lackie, who has faced five prior felony charges in nearby Baxter County since 2020. Those charges include breaking or entering, theft of property, criminal mischief, possession of methamphetamine, and impairing the operation of a vital public facility. He has previously served time in the Arkansas Department of Corrections and been placed on probation.
The investigation into the incident remains ongoing.
